Hammond 1590WEBK 188x120x82mm Black IP65 Watertight Diecast Box

The 1590WEBK is the water-tight, textured black version of the 1590E diecast aluminum enclosure, a rugged electronic instrument box measuring 7.4 in x 4.72 in x 3.23 in (188 mm x 120 mm x 82 mm). It has no mounting flanges, making it a clean, compact housing for OEM engineers and integrators building instruments, controls and PC board assemblies that must be protected from dust and splashing water.

Box and lid are die-cast aluminum alloy, which is tough yet easy to machine. Lap joint construction where lid and box meet guards against dust and splashing water, and the water-tight version is designed to meet IP65 with the included silicone gasket. The gasket is supplied loose inside the enclosure rather than pre-installed, so you can drill, mill or paint first and fit it afterwards. The textured black finish is a tough polyester powder paint that gives a lasting finish even after machining, and black screws are included to match.

Inside, the box offers 177.67 mm [6.995 in] of length, 109.67 mm [4.318 in] of width and 77.00 mm [3.031 in] of height, with maximum P.C. board dimensions listed as 107.67 mm and 175.67 mm. A side wall draft angle of 2° or less makes board mounting straightforward. The lid is 0.16" (4 mm) high.

The assembly ships with box, lid and six cover screws threaded into factory-tapped 6-32 UNC holes. Recommended torque is 50-55 cN.m [71-78 ozf.in], or 25-30 cN.m [36-43 ozf.in] with the gasket fitted. Liquid resistant stainless steel cover screws with O-ring (1590WMS100BK in black) and the 1590EGASKET replacement gasket kit are available. The 1590WEBK is RoHS and REACH compliant, ships shrink wrapped and weighs 1.3 lbs (0.59 kg).
