Hammond 1590WE 188x120x82mm Watertight IP65 Diecast Aluminum Box

The 1590WE is a watertight diecast aluminum enclosure measuring 7.4 in x 4.72 in x 3.23 in (188 mm x 120 mm x 82 mm), 82 mm high, giving electronics builders and OEM engineers an IP65 housing with 77 mm of inside height. It is the water-tight version of the 1590E, finished in natural aluminum.

Box and lid are made from diecast aluminum alloy, a rugged material that is tough yet easy to machine. This version has no mounting flanges: the box and lid meet in a lap joint, leaving the exterior plain and free for machining. The natural aluminum finish is vibra finished for a smooth surface with no sharp edges, and the alloy remains easy to machine. Low side wall draft angles (2° or less) make PC board mounting straightforward.

Drawing dimensions are 188.00 mm [7.402 in] long, 120.00 mm [4.724 in] wide and 82.00 mm [3.228 in] high, with inside dimensions of 177.67 mm [6.995 in] x 109.67 mm [4.318 in] x 77.00 mm [3.031 in] (length x width x height). The part data lists a maximum PC board size of 107.67 mm x 175.67 mm. Shipping weight is 1.29 lbs (0.59 kg).

The assembly includes box, lid and 6 cover screws threaded into factory-tapped holes (6X 6-32 UNC). Watertight 1590 enclosures are designed to meet IP65 and ship with a silicone gasket supplied loose inside the enclosure, not pre-installed. Recommended lid screw torque is 25-30 cN.m (36-43 ozf.in) with the gasket fitted, and 50-55 cN.m (71-78 ozf.in) without. The replacement gasket kit for this size is 1590EGASKET, and the 1590WE is RoHS and REACH compliant.
