The 1590U is a square diecast aluminum box and lid in natural aluminum, with no mounting flanges. It is aimed at electronics designers, hobbyists and OEM teams who need a rugged, easily machined metal enclosure for a PC board up to 111.74 mm square.
Both box and lid are cast from diecast aluminum alloy, which is tough yet easy to machine for controls, displays and connectors. The unpainted natural aluminum version is vibra finished for a smooth surface with no sharp edges. A lap joint where lid and box meet provides protection against dust and splashing water, and this standard version is designed to meet IP54.
Outside size is 4.72 in x 4.72 in x 2.32 in (120 mm x 120 mm x 59 mm); the drawing gives an overall height of 58.60 mm [2.307 in]. The inside box measures 112.65 mm x 112.65 mm x 53.60 mm [4.435 x 4.435 x 2.110 in], and side walls have a low draft angle of 2° or less, which makes PC board mounting easier.
Four cover screws are included, threaded into factory-tapped 6-32 UNC holes, with a recommended torque of 50-55 cN.m [71-78 ozf.in]. For a sealed build choose the water-tight 1590WU, or fit the 1590QGASKET replacement kit. Flanged variants are also listed: 1590UF (flanged bottom plate) and 1590UFL (flanged lid). RoHS and REACH compliant; shipping weight 0.82 lbs (0.37 kg).
