The 1590SGASKET is a pack of two pre-formed silicone gaskets made for the 1590S family of diecast aluminum enclosures, which measure 4.37 x 3.23 x 1.73 in (111 x 82 x 44 mm) in the series ordering table. It fits the natural and black 1590S, the flanged-bottom 1590SF/1590SFBK and the flanged-lid 1590SFL/1590SFLBK, and serves as a replacement for the water-tight 1590WS versions.
Standard 1590S enclosures are designed to meet IP54. With this gasket properly installed and the lid screws torqued to 25-30 cN.m (36-43 ozf.in), the enclosure is designed to meet IP65, making it a straightforward upgrade path for electronics that need better protection against water.
Each gasket is adhesive backed and is applied to the lid. That lets you machine and/or paint the enclosure first, then add the gasket afterwards, a practical sequence for OEM builders and integrators cutting connector openings. The silicone gasket carries a temperature rating of -40°C to 150°C (-40°F to 302°F).
If you are converting a standard 1590S to a water-tight box, the manufacturer also recommends its watertight screws (stainless steel with O-ring). The 1590SGASKET is RoHS and REACH compliant and ships in a bag, with a listed shipping weight of 0.01 lbs (0.00 kg).
