Hammond 1590BCB Cobalt Blue 112x61x31mm Diecast Stomp Box Enclosure

The 1590BCB is a painted diecast aluminum stomp box enclosure from the 1590-STOMP series, finished in Cobalt Blue and built for stomp box manufacturers and experimenters who want an enclosure that arrives already powder coated. It is the 1590B body: a compact 112 x 61 mm footprint at 31 mm high, the lowest of the 112 x 61 mm heights listed in the 1590-STOMP range.

The box and lid are made from diecast aluminum alloy, which is tough yet easy to machine. The enclosure is factory powder coated with a smooth, glossy polyester powder coat that keeps a lasting finish even after machining, and the smooth surface allows easy adhesion of labels or silk screens. The finish is Cobalt Blue, matched to RAL 5013, so a run of pedals or instrument boxes can be colour-specified by RAL number rather than by eye.

The series ordering table lists this size at 4.41 in (112 mm) long, 2.40 in (61 mm) wide and 1.22 in (31 mm) high; the part page gives 4.43 in x 2.38 in x 1.22 in (113 mm x 60 mm x 31 mm). The drawing shows 112.40 mm [4.425 in] x 60.50 mm [2.382 in] x 31.00 mm [1.220 in] overall, with an inside length of 107.05 mm [4.215 in], inside width of 55.45 mm [2.183 in] and inside height of 27.00 mm [1.063 in]. Maximum P.C. board size is listed as 53.45 mm x 105.05 mm, and a low side wall draft angle of 2° or less makes PC board mounting easier.

Each purchased assembly includes the box, lid and 4 cover screws (6-32 UNC). Lap joint construction protects against access of dust and splashing water, and the enclosure is designed to meet IP54. To reach IP65, add the optional 1590BGASKET gasket together with water-tight screws. Recommended torque is 50-55 cN.m [71-78 ozf.in], or 25-30 cN.m [36-43 ozf.in] with a gasket.
