Hammond 1585H8B1S 8-Outlet 48" Vertical Surge PDU, 15 ft Cord

The 1585H8B1S is a 48 inch vertical basic power distribution unit with eight NEMA 5-15R outlets, built-in surge protection and a 15 foot power cord terminated in a NEMA 5-15P straight blade plug. It is intended for IT, AV and electrical teams powering equipment in server cabinets, wall mount cabinets and open frame racks, and it can also be installed horizontally above a work bench.

The low-profile slim housing is a rugged, lightweight anodized aluminum extrusion in a natural finish, with ABS plastic ends. All eight outlets face the front of the strip, are 1 inch square and are equally spaced over the 48.00 in (1219 mm) strip length; overall assembly length is 48.472 in (1231.19 mm). The unit is rated 125 VAC, 60 Hz, 15 amps and includes an on/off rocker switch, a resettable 15 amp circuit breaker and a green surge indicator light. A companion pilot-light version, 1585T8B1S, is offered in the same series.

Surge protection uses 25,000 amp rated MOVs for a total of 75,000 amps of single pulse transient current, with 1080 joules maximum energy, a 500V Voltage Protection Rating in all three modes (L-N, L-G, N-G) and a nominal discharge current of 5 kA. Voltage suppression at the outlet guards against transients from equipment on the strip. At the end of the surge module's useful life, internal protection disconnects the module and extinguishes the green light while maintaining power to the load, now unprotected.

The 15 foot cord is heavy duty 14 gauge, 14/3 SJT type for extreme temperature ranges, with an integral molded plug. 1585H8B1S ships with a mounting bracket kit and hardware; additional kits are available as P/N 1585CLIP. The unit is cULus Listed to UL 1449 and C22.2 No. 269.3-17 (Type 3 SPD) and to UL 1363 and C22.2 No. 308-18, is TAA-compliant for federal GSA schedule purchases within the USA, RoHS and REACH compliant, and manufactured in North America.
