Hammond 1553TTBKBAT Black 165 mm Handheld Enclosure, 2x AA Battery

The 1553TTBKBAT is the compact 1553TT hand-held "T" enclosure in black with a battery door and compartment. It is intended for battery powered instrument or mobile data devices needing a keypad and display, with the handheld section wrapped in a dark grey TPE overmold for a soft grip.

The enclosure measures 6.50 x 3.15 x 1.10 in (165 x 80 x 28 mm), with a 3.15 in (80 mm) display section and a 2.68 in (68 mm) keyboard section, both recessed for membrane devices. The battery compartment takes (2) AA or (1) 9V batteries; the drawing shows a 62.45 mm battery holder, and the part page lists maximum P.C. board figures of 92.22 mm and 134 mm.

The purchased 1553TTBKBAT assembly includes the top, bottom, front plastic panel, battery door, battery spring clips (4 pcs), a 9V adapter (1 pc) and 6 cover screws, with M3 brass inserts pre-installed. This matches the series description of 1553TT BAT versions: 4x battery clips for 2x AA batteries and 1x 9 volt (PP3) battery clip. Inside are 8 PCB posts on top and 10 on the bottom for #4 x 1/4" self tap screws.

The flame retardant ABS is rated UL94 V-0. The halves close with M3-0.5 x 18 mm Philips head machine screws into brass bushings; recommended torque is 2.5 lbf-in (30 cN-m). Only the top end panel is removable on the battery version. Spare doors are 53TTBATDOORBK-5. The part is RoHS and REACH compliant and ships shrink wrapped at 0.26 lbs (0.12 kg).
