Hammond 1553TTBK Black 165 mm Keypad Handheld Enclosure, IP54

The 1553TTBK is the compact size of the 1553T hand-held "T" soft side enclosure series, in black flame retardant ABS with a dark grey TPE overmold for a soft grip. Its display and keyboard areas are both recessed for membrane devices, so it suits smaller instrument or mobile data enclosures requiring a keypad and display.

The 1553TTBK measures 6.50 x 3.15 x 1.10 in (165 x 80 x 28 mm), with a 3.15 in (80 mm) display section and a 2.68 in (68 mm) keyboard section. It takes a P.C. board up to 151 x 73 mm. The drawing shows an inner box height of 22.00 mm, a 2.25 mm wall, and 10 PCB posts on top and 12 on the bottom, each accepting a #4 x 1/4" self tap screw.

Assembly uses M3-0.5 x 18 mm Philips head machine screws threaded into integral brass bushings that are factory inserted in the top half, suited to repetitive assembly and disassembly. Lap joint construction protects against dust and splashing water, and this non-battery version is designed to meet IP54. The flame retardant ABS carries a UL94 V-0 rating.

The purchased assembly includes the top, bottom, front and rear plastic panels and 6 cover screws, with M3 brass inserts pre-installed; recommended cover screw torque is 2.5 lbf-in (30 cN-m). Both end panels are removable for easy modification, with spares sold as 1553TTPLBK-10. It is RoHS and REACH compliant and ships shrink wrapped at 0.24 lbs (0.11 kg).
