The 1553TGY is the light grey, standard (non-battery) version of the large 1553T hand-held "T" enclosure. The grey ABS body is paired with a dark grey TPE overmold on the handheld section, giving a soft grip for instrument or mobile data enclosures that require a keypad and display.
Measuring 8.27 x 3.94 x 1.26 in (210 x 100 x 32 mm), the 1553TGY has a 3.94 in (100 mm) wide display section and a 3.39 in (86 mm) wide keyboard section, both recessed for membrane devices; the drawing shows a 124.24 x 83.24 mm display-area inlay. Internally it takes a P.C. board up to 193 x 92 mm, with an inner box height of 25.00 mm.
PC board standoffs are molded into both halves (10 PCB posts on top, 12 on the bottom) and accept #4 x 1/4" self tap screws. The halves are joined with M3-0.5 x 18 mm Philips head machine screws that thread into integral brass bushings pre-installed in the top half, a method the series describes as ideal for repetitive assembly and disassembly.
Lap joint construction protects against dust and splashing water, and the enclosure is designed to meet IP54. The flame retardant ABS carries a UL94 V-0 rating. Top and bottom end panels are both removable for easy modification. Each 1553TGY includes the top, bottom, front plastic panel and 6 cover screws; recommended cover screw torque is 2.5 lbf-in (30 cN-m). It is RoHS and REACH compliant and ships shrink wrapped at 0.44 lbs (0.20 kg).
