The 1553TBKBAT is the battery door and compartment version of the large 1553T hand-held "T" enclosure in black. It keeps the recessed display and keyboard areas of the standard model and adds a battery compartment sized for (4) AA or (2) 9V batteries, making it a ready housing for portable instruments and mobile data devices with a keypad and display.
Overall dimensions are 8.27 x 3.94 x 1.26 in (210 x 100 x 32 mm), with a 3.94 in (100 mm) display section and a 3.39 in (86 mm) keyboard section. The part page lists maximum P.C. board figures of 92.22 mm and 134 mm, and the drawing shows a battery holder 66.62 mm long, an inner box height of 25.00 mm and 8 PCB posts on top and 10 on the bottom.
Per the series, 1553T "BAT" versions include 8x battery clips for 4x AA batteries and 2x 9 volt (PP3) battery clips, and use a long-life three point battery door. Extra clip kits are listed as 1553HDR-BKIT for AA and BS61 for 9V, and spare doors come as 53TBATDOORBK-5.
The enclosure is molded from flame retardant ABS rated UL94 V-0, with a dark grey TPE overmold on the handheld section. Assembly uses M3-0.5 x 18 mm Philips head machine screws into factory-inserted brass bushings; 6 cover screws are included and recommended torque is 2.5 lbf-in (30 cN-m). The battery version has a removable top end panel only. The 1553TBKBAT is RoHS and REACH compliant and ships shrink wrapped at 0.5 lbs (0.23 kg).
