Hammond 1553TBK Black 210 mm Keypad Handheld Enclosure, IP54

The 1553TBK is the larger of the two sizes in the 1553T hand-held "T" soft side enclosure series, molded in black flame retardant ABS with a dark grey TPE overmold on the handheld section. Its T shape pairs a wider display section with a narrower keyboard section, and both areas are recessed for membrane devices, which suits instrument or mobile data enclosures requiring a keypad and display.

The enclosure measures 8.27 x 3.94 x 1.26 in (210 x 100 x 32 mm). The display section is 3.94 in (100 mm) wide and the keyboard section 3.39 in (86 mm) wide. It accepts a maximum P.C. board of 193 x 92 mm, with an inner box height of 25.00 mm and a 2.75 mm wall. The drawing shows 10 PCB posts on the top half and 12 on the bottom, each accepting a #4 x 1/4" self tap screw.

The case is assembled with M3-0.5 x 18 mm Philips head machine screws that thread into integral brass bushings factory inserted in the top half, which the series notes is ideal for repetitive assembly and disassembly. Lap joint construction guards against dust and splashing water, and this non-battery version is designed to meet IP54. The plastic carries a UL94 V-0 flammability rating.

Both top and bottom end panels are removable for easy modification, and spares are sold as 1553TPLBK-10. The 1553TBK assembly includes the top, bottom, front plastic panel and 6 cover screws with M3 brass inserts pre-installed; recommended cover screw torque is 2.5 lbf-in (30 cN-m). It ships shrink wrapped at 0.44 lbs (0.20 kg) and is RoHS and REACH compliant.
