Hammond 1553DTBUBKBAT Translucent Blue Battery Handheld Enclosure, 147 mm

The 1553DTBUBKBAT is the translucent blue, battery-compartment version of the large D-size enclosure in the 1553 hand held family. It pairs a trans. blue ABS body with a black soft side overmold and adds a battery door, making it a practical housing for battery powered handheld electronics built by OEM engineers and product designers.

Overall size is 5.79 x 3.50 x 0.98 in (147 x 89 x 25 mm). Because the battery compartment takes up part of the interior, the ordering table lists a maximum P.C. board of 4.21 x 2.91 in (107 x 74 mm); the drawing shows an inner box length of 140.24 mm, an inner box height of 19.50 mm and an inner width of 80.98 mm at the center tapering to 68.93 mm at the end. Key points:

• Molded in general purpose ABS with a soft plastic overmold for a comfortable grip
• Removable front panel; an IR end panel (1553DIR-BULK) is offered for all D sized enclosures
• Can be factory modified by milling, drilling or printing; solid models available in STEP or IGES

The battery compartment is fitted with 4x battery clips for 2x AA batteries plus a 9 volt (PP3) battery clip. The top cover is recessed (130.68 x 69.68 mm inlay) to accept a membrane display or keypad, and PC board standoffs are molded into the case so the board aligns on the PCB bosses.

The purchased 1553DTBUBKBAT assembly includes the top, bottom, front plastic panel, battery door, battery spring clips (4 pcs), a 9V adapter (1 pc) and 4 cover screws; the P.C. board is not supplied. Recommended cover screw torque is 2.5 lbf-in (30 cN-m), and replacement black lid screws are 1593QS100BK. PC board mounting screws are ordered separately as 1593ATS50 or 1593ATS100. The enclosure carries a UL94 HB flame rating and is RoHS and REACH compliant.
