The 1553ABK is the compact 1553A size of the soft-sided hand held enclosure family: a black ABS case wrapped in a grey soft plastic overmold for a comfortable grip. It suits OEM engineers and product designers packaging small handheld electronics such as remotes, meters and control pods where a slim, pocketable housing matters.
The case is molded in general purpose ABS plastic and measures 3.94 x 2.41 x 0.67 in (100 x 61 x 17 mm). Inside, the drawing shows an inner box of 96.62 x 53.37 mm with 13.00 mm of height, and PCB bosses molded into the case locate a board of up to 94.8 x 48.8 mm. The top cover carries a recessed inlay of 86.69 x 47.77 mm, 0.50 mm deep, sized for a membrane display or keypad.
This part is rated IP54 and UL94 HB, and is RoHS and REACH compliant. Unlike the larger 1553 sizes, the 1553A has no removable front panel and no battery compartment option; the assembly ships with top, bottom and 4 cover screws, and the P.C. board is not supplied.
Board screws are ordered separately as 1593ATS50 or 1593ATS100, black replacement lid screws are SC1553A100BK, and a 1599CLIP belt or pocket clip is available. The recommended cover screw torque is 2.5 lbf-in (30 cN-m). The 1553ABK can also be factory modified (milling, drilling, printing), and STEP or IGES solid models are available.
