Hammond 1552D1GY 70x50x30 mm Hand-Held ABS Enclosure, Gray

The 1552D1GY is a compact 70 x 50 x 30 mm hand-held ABS plastic enclosure in light gray, the shortest of the deeper "D" sizes in the 1552 series. At only 70 mm long but 30 mm deep, it gives extra internal height (24.20 mm inside) for taller components on a printed circuit board up to 49 mm x 43.7 mm. It is ergonomically designed to sit comfortably in the hand and is equally suitable for desktop use, making it a fit for small hand-held controllers and sensors.

It is molded from flame retardant ABS plastic rated UL94-V0 with a satin texture, and the light gray case ships with nickel plated screws. Lap joint construction protects against dust accumulation and splashing water, and the enclosure is designed to meet IP54 requirements. Four self-tapping screws secure the two halves; as a 1552 D1 size, it does not use the mid-wall snap closures found on the longer sizes. The top is recessed to take a membrane display or keypad.

Overall dimensions are 2.76 in (70 mm) long, 1.97 in (50 mm) wide and 1.18 in (30 mm) deep, with an inside height of 24.20 mm [0.95 in]. PCB bosses accept #2 self-tapping screws (1553WTS100, #2 x 3/16", sold in packs of 100), and the recommended cover screw torque is 21-28 ozf-in (15-20 cN-m). The purchased assembly includes the box, lid, two end panels and four cover screws.

Both end panels are removable for easy modification, or can be swapped for the size D rubberized cable gland kit (1552DPGKITBK / 1552DPGKITGY), which accepts 2 mm to 6 mm cable. A size D wall-mount holder (1552DHBK / 1552DHGY) and replacement end panel 10-packs (1552DPLBK-10 / 1552DPLGY-10) are sold separately. Solid models are available in .stp or .x_t, and the 1552D1GY can be factory modified with milling, drilling or printing.
