Hammond 1550Z220FBK Black Deep 223 x 147 mm Flanged Watertight Box

The 1550Z220FBK is the deep version of the 223 x 147 mm footprint in the 1550ZF Series, offering 83 mm of total depth in a watertight, thick-wall diecast aluminum enclosure with a flanged base. It is a fit for engineers and panel builders housing larger boards together with taller components or terminal blocks.

Diecast aluminum alloy keeps it tough yet easy to machine, and two piece tongue and groove construction protects against dust and water. It is the textured black version: tough polyester powder is applied outside and inside the enclosure for a lasting finish, even after machining, with cleared areas around the internal grounding points. The bottom flange is spot-welded, and the interior has no ribs to interfere with connectors.

Overall size is 9.8 x 5.77 x 3.35 in (249 x 147 x 85 mm). The series table lists 223 mm length, 147 mm width, 83 mm total depth and a 33 mm lid height. The drawing shows an inside length of 214.49 mm [8.44 in] and inside depth of 77.00 mm [3.03 in]. Maximum P.C. board dimensions are 137.33 mm and 213.33 mm.

Six stainless steel Philips head M4 - 0.7 lid screws sit outside the gasket protection area, torqued to 5-7.5 lbf.in (50-75 cN.m); replacements are the longer M4 - 0.7 x 45mm SC1550Z220-30 pack. The pre-formed silicone gasket is rated -40°C to +150°C and is replaced with 1550Z124GASKET. The box accepts a #6 self-tapping ground screw.

Hammond lists the 1550ZF family under cUL and UL file #E71073, and it has been independently tested to meet IP66, IP67 and IP68 as well as NEMA Type 4, 4X, 12 and 13 ratings; this size also carries an IK08 impact rating per IEC62262. Hammond advises customers to conduct their own testing to determine suitability for any specific application.
