Hammond 1550Z139FBK Black 159 mm Square Flanged Watertight Diecast Box

The 1550Z139FBK is the larger square size in the 1550ZF Series of watertight diecast aluminum enclosures with flanges, at 159 x 159 mm nominal and 102 mm total depth. It suits integrators and OEM engineers who need a roomy, deep, sealed metal housing that mounts through a welded flange.

The thick walls are rugged diecast aluminum alloy that remains easy to machine, and the two piece tongue and groove closure protects against dust and water. It is the textured black version: tough polyester powder is applied outside and inside the enclosure for a lasting finish, even after machining, with cleared areas around the internal grounding points. There are no internal ribs, so connectors and glands can be installed without interference.

Overall size is 7.32 x 6.28 x 4.12 in (186 x 160 x 105 mm). The series table lists 159 mm length and width, 102 mm total depth and a 21 mm lid height; the drawing shows 149.86 mm [5.90 in] inside length and width with 97.00 mm [3.82 in] inside depth. Maximum P.C. board size is 148.71 mm x 148.71 mm, and the shipping weight is 2.68 lbs (1.22 kg).

Four stainless steel Philips head M4 - 0.7 lid screws sit outside the gasket protection area. The 1550Z139 size is listed with self-captivating lid screws, with lid holes slightly undersized and threaded on first installation; recommended torque is 5-7.5 lbf.in (50-75 cN.m). The one-piece silicone gasket is rated -40°C to +150°C, and a #6 self-tapping ground screw can be fitted.

Hammond lists the 1550ZF family under cUL and UL file #E71073, and it has been independently tested to meet IP66, IP67 and IP68 as well as NEMA Type 4, 4X, 12 and 13 ratings; this size also carries an IK08 impact rating per IEC62262. Hammond advises customers to conduct their own testing to determine suitability for any specific application.
