Hammond 1550Z137FBK Black 121 mm Square Flanged Watertight Diecast Box

The 1550Z137FBK is a square, deep-body enclosure in the 1550ZF Series: 121 x 121 mm nominal with a 102 mm total depth. It gives electricians and OEM engineers a compact, tall watertight diecast aluminum housing with a flanged base for mounting to walls, panels or equipment.

Construction is thick-wall diecast aluminum alloy, tough yet easy to machine, with a two piece tongue and groove closure against dust and water. It is the textured black version: tough polyester powder is applied outside and inside the enclosure for a lasting finish, even after machining, with cleared areas around the internal grounding points. A strong spot-welded bottom flange provides the mounting points, and no internal ribs obstruct connector installation.

The part page lists a size of 5.8 x 4.76 x 4.11 in (147 x 121 x 104 mm). The series table gives 121 mm length and width, 102 mm total depth and a 21 mm lid height, and the drawing shows inside length and width of 111.27 mm [4.38 in] with an inside depth of 96.70 mm [3.81 in]. Maximum P.C. board size is 110.12 mm x 110.12 mm.

The lid fastens with four stainless steel Philips head M4 - 0.7 screws outside the gasket area; the 1550Z137 size is one of six with self-captivating lid screws, its lid holes slightly undersized and threaded on first installation. Recommended torque is 5-7.5 lbf.in (50-75 cN.m). The pre-formed one-piece silicone gasket is rated -40°C to +150°C, and the box accepts a #6 self-tapping ground screw.

Hammond lists the 1550ZF family under cUL and UL file #E71073, and it has been independently tested to meet IP66, IP67 and IP68 as well as NEMA Type 4, 4X, 12 and 13 ratings; this size also carries an IK08 impact rating per IEC62262. Hammond advises customers to conduct their own testing to determine suitability for any specific application.
