Hammond 1550Z124BK Black 223 x 147 x 55 mm Watertight Diecast Box

The 1550Z124BK is a black textured, thick-wall watertight diecast aluminum enclosure sized 8.76 in x 5.77 in x 2.17 in (223 mm x 147 mm x 55 mm). It gives instrument makers, integrators and facilities teams a low, wide housing with a finished black look for boards and connectors exposed to water and dust.

The polyester powder coat is applied outside and inside the enclosure and is described as a lasting finish even after machining. The diecast aluminum alloy walls have no internal ribs, and the drawing gives inside dimensions of 214.49 mm [8.44 in] long, 138.49 mm [5.45 in] wide and 49.50 mm [1.95 in] deep. The maximum P.C. board size listed is 137.33 mm long by 213.33 mm wide.

For mounting, blind thru-box holes allow wall installation, with access outside the gasket ring to uphold ingress protection. The lid, 0.20 in (5 mm) high, is fastened with six stainless steel Philips head M4 - 0.7 screws outside the one-piece silicone gasket; torque them to 5-7.5 lbf.in (50-75 cN.m). A #6 self tapping ground screw fits inside the box.

Ratings include IP68, NEMA 4, 4X, 12 & 13 and IK08 per IEC62262, and the enclosure is cUL and UL listed under file #E71073. The 1550Z124BK is RoHS and REACH compliant and ships shrink wrapped at 1.91 lbs (0.87 kg), with box, lid, gasket and 6 cover screws included.
