Hammond 1550Z120FBK Black 171 x 121 mm Flanged Watertight Diecast Box

The 1550Z120FBK is a low-profile 171 x 121 mm member of the 1550ZF Series: a thick-wall, watertight diecast aluminum enclosure with a flanged base. It suits integrators and OEM designers housing a wider circuit board or connector panel in a shallow, surface-mounted box.

The diecast aluminum alloy is rugged yet easy to machine, and the two piece tongue and groove joint protects against access of dust and water. It is the textured black version: tough polyester powder is applied outside and inside the enclosure for a lasting finish, even after machining, with cleared areas around the internal grounding points. A strong spot-welded bottom flange handles mounting, and the smooth interior has no internal ribs.

Overall size is 7.79 x 4.78 x 2.28 in (198 x 121 x 58 mm). The series table lists 171 mm length, 121 mm width, 55 mm total depth and a 10 mm lid height. The drawing gives an inside length of 163.14 mm [6.42 in] and inside depth of 49.90 mm [1.96 in], and Hammond lists maximum P.C. board dimensions of 111.16 mm and 161.12 mm.

This size closes with six stainless steel Philips head M4 - 0.7 lid screws located outside the gasket protection area, so no o-rings are required. Recommended cover screw torque is 5-7.5 lbf.in (50-75 cN.m). The pre-formed one-piece silicone gasket installs into the lid groove and is rated -40°C to +150°C. For bonding, the box accepts a #6 self-tapping ground screw.

Hammond lists the 1550ZF family under cUL and UL file #E71073, and it has been independently tested to meet IP66, IP67 and IP68 as well as NEMA Type 4, 4X, 12 and 13 ratings; this size also carries an IK08 impact rating per IEC62262. Hammond advises customers to conduct their own testing to determine suitability for any specific application.
