Hammond 1550Z117FBK Black 81 mm Deep Flanged Watertight Diecast Box

The 1550Z117FBK is the deeper 81 mm version of the 160 x 100 mm 1550ZF flanged enclosure, a thick-wall watertight diecast aluminum box for engineers and electricians who need extra internal height for terminals, connectors or taller components while still mounting through a welded flange.

Box and lid are diecast aluminum alloy, tough yet easy to machine, closed by two piece tongue and groove construction that guards against dust and water. It is the textured black version: tough polyester powder is applied outside and inside the enclosure for a lasting finish, even after machining, with cleared areas around the internal grounding points. The bottom flange is spot-welded, and the interior has no ribs to get in the way of connectors.

Overall size is 7.35 x 3.95 x 3.3 in (187 x 100 x 84 mm). The series table gives 160 mm length, 100 mm width, 81 mm total depth and a 20 mm lid height. The drawing shows an inside length of 150.19 mm [5.91 in], inside width of 89.99 mm [3.54 in] and inside depth of 75.20 mm [2.96 in]; maximum P.C. board dimensions are listed as 89.08 mm and 148.97 mm.

Four stainless steel Philips head M4 - 0.7 lid screws sit outside the one-piece silicone gasket, which is rated -40°C to +150°C. The 1550Z117 size has self-captivating lid screws, with slightly undersized lid holes threaded on first installation; recommended torque is 5-7.5 lbf.in (50-75 cN.m).

Hammond lists the 1550ZF family under cUL and UL file #E71073, and it has been independently tested to meet IP66, IP67 and IP68 as well as NEMA Type 4, 4X, 12 and 13 ratings; this size also carries an IK08 impact rating per IEC62262. Hammond advises customers to conduct their own testing to determine suitability for any specific application.
