Hammond 1550WHBK 222x146x105 mm Black Watertight Diecast Aluminum Box

The 1550WHBK is a black watertight diecast aluminum enclosure from the 1550 Series, measuring 8.74 in (222 mm) x 5.75 in (146 mm) x 4.13 in (105 mm) including the lid. It is supplied with an IP66 EVA foam gasket and is rated IP66, making it a practical housing for electronics builders, OEM engineers and integrators whose circuits face dust and water.

The 1550H size is the 105 mm tall version of the 222 x 146 mm footprint and uses the same gasket kits as the 1550G. Per the drawing, the inside box measures 212.84 mm [8.38 in] long by 136.84 mm [5.39 in] wide with 101.10 mm [3.98 in] of inside height, and the box stands 101.00 mm [3.98 in] tall without the 4 mm lid.

The rugged die-cast alloy is tough yet easy to machine. It is finished in tough satin black polyester powder paint that lasts even after machining, and black lid screws are included for a matched assembled appearance. Walls have no internal ribs, so connectors fit without interference or extra milling, and the low side wall draft angle (2° less) makes PC board mounting easier. The lid is secured by M3.5 x 0.6 x 12 mm stainless steel Phillips head screws into factory tapped holes.

The EVA foam gasket ships loose inside the enclosure and is rated up to 65°C (149°F); installed properly with the lid screws torqued at 55 cN.m the 1550WHBK is designed to meet IP66. Spares are 1550GEGASKET (IP66) and the silicone IP67 upgrade is 1550GSGASKET. The same size without a gasket is 1550H (natural) or 1550HBK (black).
