Hammond 149T Dual Center-Tap 600 Ohm Output Transformer, 1000 mW

The 149T is a 600 ohm center-tapped to 600 ohm center-tapped open frame transformer for printed circuit boards. The equal primary and secondary impedances suit 600 ohm audio output coupling where both sides need a center tap.

The 149 Series uses an economical, open type, horizontal bracket construction with pin-type terminals for P.C. board mounting, and adds clinching lugs for extra mounting strength. Windings are bifilar wound for balanced capacitive and resistance characteristics on pin bobbins spaced for a standard 0.2" grid, and the series is insulation tested at 250V rms.

The series table rates the 149T at 1000 mW with a maximum unbalanced primary current of 4 mA and D.C. resistance of 53 ohms primary and 70 ohms secondary (+/- 15%). The part drawing adds typical values: DCR 1-4 of 49.2 ohms and 1-8 of 65.4 ohms, inductance of 814.5 mH (1-4) and 815.0 mH (5-8) with impedances of 5.795K and 5.800K ohm at 1.0 kHz, 1.0 V, and leakage inductance of 4.24 mH. Dielectric strength is 250 VRMS and the temperature range is -40 to 105 degC. Frequency response is 200 Hz to 15 kHz (+/- 1 dB, referenced at 1 kHz) and insertion loss is less than 1/2 dB, while total distortion is approximately 1% at 200 Hz for outputs, decreasing at higher frequencies.

Schematic figure 5 applies, with primary pins 1, 2 and 4 and secondary pins 5, 7 and 8. Note that the series sheet lists 0.25" pins and a 1.0 oz. net weight, while the 149T drawing shows 0.300" long by 0.025" square pins and a 0.6 oz. weight; the listed shipping weight is 0.05 lbs (0.02 kg).
