Hammond 1457N1602EBK 160mm Flanged EMI/RFI Extruded Enclosure, Black

The 1457N1602EBK is a 160 mm long, 55 mm tall EMI/RFI shielded enclosure from the 1457-EMI Series, built on a 104 mm wide aluminum extrusion and closed with flanged end panels with integrated wall-mounting flanges. At 55 mm it is the taller of the two 104 mm wide profiles in the series, intended to house a shielded Eurocard-format PC board or to serve as an equipment-interfacing enclosure.

The body is one piece of extruded aluminum 6063 with a minimum thickness of 0.06" (1.5 mm) and a 0.75 mm (0.030") deep recess for a label or membrane keypad. The extruded body is finished in black powder coat, and the two Type 380 diecast aluminum end panels are painted in a durable black satin powder paint, giving an all-black exterior. Full perimeter conductive foam/fabric gaskets of Ni/Cu (nickel/copper) with conductive pressure sensitive adhesive seal each end panel to the body.

Nominal size is 6.3 in x 4.09 in x 2.15 in (160 mm x 104 mm x 55 mm), with an inside face-to-face dimension of 160.00 ±0.50 mm [6.299 ±0.020 in]. PC boards slide horizontally into internal slots extruded into the body; part data lists a maximum board of 159 mm x 99 mm. Shipping weight is 0.85 lbs (0.39 kg).

Integrated flanges on the end panels let the 1457N1602EBK be screwed to a wall or panel; the drawing shows 192.15 mm [7.565 in] overall length with flange mounting holes on 180.15 mm [7.093 in] centres. If you prefer a free-standing box, the same body is offered with flat end panels as 1457N1601EBK. Assembly uses #6 Taptight thread forming screws with O-rings, black zinc plated to ASTM B633-13 (Type II, SC3); the recommended screw torque is 5 lbf/in.

The enclosure is designed to meet IP54 and is RoHS and REACH compliant. Note that the EMI gaskets are not water-tight. Solid models are available in STEP or IGES, and the factory can mill, drill or print the enclosure.
