Hammond 1457K1602EBK 160x84x44mm Black EMI Enclosure, Flanged End Panels

The 1457K1602EBK is an 84 mm-wide, 44 mm-high EMI/RFI shielded enclosure from the 1457-EMI series, built on a 160 mm extruded aluminum body and specified at 6.3 in x 3.3 in x 1.73 in (160 mm x 84 mm x 44 mm). It suits OEM engineers and integrators housing a PC board or interface electronics in a shielded metal case. This version pairs a black powder coat extrusion with flanged end panels with integrated wall-mounting flanges.

The body is one piece of extruded aluminum 6063 with a minimum wall thickness of 0.06" (1.5 mm), and the end panels are easy-to-machine Type 380 die-cast aluminum. Both the extruded body and the die-cast end panels are black powder painted, giving the assembly a uniform black finish. Each end panel is sealed with a full-perimeter conductive foam/fabric gasket made of Ni/Cu (nickel/copper) with CPSA (conductive pressure sensitive adhesive), and the assembly is rated IP54. A 0.75 mm (.030") deep recess on the body accepts a label or membrane keypad.

Boards slide horizontally into slots extruded into the body; the series table lists a maximum PCB of 160 x 80 mm, and the part data gives a maximum board of 159 x 79 mm. The drawing shows an inside face-to-face dimension of 160.00 ±0.50 mm [6.299 ±0.020 in], an internal section of 81.00 ±0.70 mm [3.189 ±0.028 in] wide by 39.61 ±0.60 mm [1.560 ±0.024 in] high, and an overall length of 192.15 mm [7.565 in] including the flanges. The 44 mm K body leaves more vertical room above the board for taller components.

The 1457K1602EBK ships as a complete assembly: body, two end panels, two adhesive conductive end plate gaskets, #6 Taptight thread-forming screws with rubber O-rings, and self-adhesive rubber feet. The screws are black zinc plated to ASTM B633-13 (Type II, SC3), and the recommended screw torque is 5 lbf/in. The integrated flanges on the end panels allow the enclosure to be fixed to a wall or panel. The part is RoHS and REACH compliant.
