Hammond 1457K1201BK 120x84x44mm IP65 Extruded Aluminum Enclosure, Black

The 1457K1201BK is the short, tall member of the K profile: a 120 mm long, 84 mm wide, 44 mm high extruded aluminum enclosure designed to meet IP65. The extra height over the slimmer J profile leaves room for taller components on a PC board up to 119 x 79 mm, making it a practical housing for compact interface electronics, sensors and control modules.

This version has a black powder coat extrusion; the drawing describes it as a black powder painted box and end panels. The one-piece extruded body is made from 6063 aluminum with a minimum wall thickness of 0.06" (1.5 mm), and the end panels are Type 380 Diecast Aluminum with a black powder paint finish that is easy to machine for connectors, glands or switches. A 0.75 mm (.030") deep recess on the body accepts a label or membrane keypad. The same size with a clear anodized body is 1457K1201.

Nominal size is 4.73 in x 3.3 in x 1.73 in (120 mm x 84 mm x 44 mm). On the drawing the assembled length with end panels is 131.15 mm [5.163 in], the end panels measure 87.00 mm [3.425 in] wide by 47.11 mm [1.855 in] high, the extrusion is 44.11 mm [1.737 in] high and the inside face-to-face dimension is 120.00 ±0.50 mm [4.724 ±0.020 in]. PC boards mount horizontally by sliding into internal slots; the drawing states it fits a 120mm (4.724") X 80mm (3.149") PCB and the part page gives a maximum board of 119 mm x 79 mm. Flat end panels suit bench or free-standing use; the flanged equivalent is 1457K1202BK.

Each assembly includes the box, two end panels, two closed-cell polyethylene foam end plate gaskets, #6 Taptight stainless steel screws with rubber O-rings and self-adhesive rubber feet. The thread-forming screws are black zinc plated for corrosion protection to ASTM B633-13, with a recommended torque of 5 lbf/in; replacement screws come in packs of 100 as 1457MS100. The part is REACH and RoHS compliant, and ships shrink wrapped at 0.52 lbs (0.24 kg).
