Hammond 1455R2201BK 220x165x30.5mm Black Anodized Enclosure, Metal Ends

The 1455R2201BK is a black anodized extruded aluminum PC board enclosure with metal (aluminum) end panels from the 1455 Series. Its nominal size is 8.66 in x 6.5 in x 1.22 in (220 mm x 165 mm x 31 mm), and it is listed among the series' enclosures with a sliding plate. It is intended for OEM engineers, electronics designers and integrators who need to house PC boards or build equipment-interfacing units in a rugged metal case.

The body is extruded aluminum 6063 with a minimum wall thickness of 0.06" (1.5 mm) and a black anodized finish. PC boards mount horizontally by sliding into internal slots extruded into the body; the drawing notes the extrusion is designed for a 160 mm wide PC board, and the maximum board size is 219 mm long by 159.5 mm wide. Per the drawing, the bezels are made with polycarbonate. The part carries an IP54 rating.

Each 1455R2201BK includes the extruded body with its removable sliding plate, two flat aluminum end panels colour-matched to the black anodized housing, two open plastic bezels (black), four adhesive rubber feet and #6 x 3/8" thread rolling steel end panel screws with a #4 flat head Phillips drive — black screws, as supplied with black, red and blue anodized versions. Recommended screw torque is 5 lbf-in. Replacement rubber feet are 1421T2CL (pack of 24), and replacement screws are 1455MS100BK (quantity 100). The plastic-end equivalent is 1455R2202BK.

On the drawing the extrusion is 220.00 ±0.50 mm [8.661 ±0.020 in] long, 165.00 mm [6.496 in] wide and 30.50 mm [1.201 in] high, and measures 169.50 mm [6.673 in] across the end plate and bezel. The drawing also shows optional flanged end panels, part 1455RF. Hammond notes these enclosures can be factory modified (milling, drilling, printing) and that solid models are available in STEP or IGES. It is RoHS and REACH compliant, ships shrink wrapped and weighs 1.32 lbs (0.60 kg) for shipping.
