Hammond 1455R1602 160x165x30.5mm Clear Anodized Enclosure, Plastic Ends

The 1455R1602 is a clear anodized extruded aluminum PC board enclosure with plastic end panels from the 1455 Series. Its nominal size is 6.3 in x 6.5 in x 1.22 in (160 mm x 165 mm x 31 mm), and it is listed among the series' enclosures with a sliding plate. It is intended for OEM engineers, electronics designers and integrators who need to house PC boards or build equipment-interfacing units in a rugged metal case.

The body is extruded aluminum 6063 with a minimum wall thickness of 0.06" (1.5 mm) and a clear anodized finish. PC boards mount horizontally by sliding into internal slots extruded into the body; the drawing notes the extrusion is designed for a 160 mm wide PC board, and the maximum board size is 159.5 mm long by 159 mm wide. Per the drawing, the closed bezels are made with ABS. The part carries an IP54 rating.

Each 1455R1602 includes the extruded body with its removable sliding plate, two closed end panels in black, four adhesive rubber feet and #6 x 3/8" thread rolling steel end panel screws with a #4 flat head Phillips drive — natural screws, as supplied with clear anodized versions. Recommended screw torque is 5 lbf-in. Replacement rubber feet are 1421T2CL (pack of 24), and replacement screws are 1455MS100 (quantity 100). The metal-end equivalent, with aluminum end panels and open bezels, is 1455R1601.

On the drawing the extrusion is 160.00 ±0.50 mm [6.299 ±0.020 in] long, 165.00 mm [6.496 in] wide and 30.50 mm [1.201 in] high, and measures 169.50 mm [6.673 in] across the closed bezel. Hammond notes these enclosures can be factory modified (milling, drilling, printing) and that solid models are available in STEP or IGES. It is RoHS and REACH compliant, ships shrink wrapped and weighs 1.03 lbs (0.47 kg) for shipping.
