Hammond 1444-24CWW 12x8x3 Inch Aluminum Chassis with Walnut Sides

The 1444-24CWW is the 12 in x 8 in x 3 in (305 mm x 203 mm x 76 mm) aluminum chassis fitted with solid walnut side panels. With 3 in of height and wooden ends, it is a natural fit for tube amplifiers and audio builds that need both under-chassis room and a finished appearance.

The chassis is spot welded, heavy duty 0.051 in aluminum (0.05 in / 1 mm in the ordering table) in a natural aluminum finish. The walnut side panels are routed out to fit over the ends of the chassis, which is pre-punched for easy mounting, and attach with four machine screws and lockwashers per side into metal inserts to avoid wood damage. Do not torque these screws past 4.43 lbf.in (50 cN.m).

The chassis includes the wooden sides, adhesive rubber feet and the required hardware, per the drawing. Assembled dimensions are 322.58 mm [12.70 in] long and 215.90 mm [8.50 in] wide, with walnut sides 88.90 mm [3.50 in] high. The inner box is 200.61 mm [7.90 in] wide and 73.61 mm [2.90 in] high. Expect the usable surface of the front, back and top to be reduced by roughly 7/8 in (22 mm) by the walnut inset.

Bottom plate 1434-22 and plated cover screws 1421J6 (package of 6, 6-32 x 1/4 in self-tapping) are sold separately; spare clear self-adhesive rubber feet are 1421T6CL (package of 24). The 1451 series steel covers are not compatible.

The 1444-24CWW is REACH and RoHS compliant and ships in shrink wrap at 1.68 lbs (0.76 kg).
