The 1444-18 is a long, slim 13.5 in x 5 in x 2 in (343 mm x 127 mm x 51 mm) aluminum chassis. The 13.5 in length gives a wide front panel for rows of controls or connectors while keeping the depth to 5 in, useful for audio, tube and instrument builds.
It is a spot welded, heavy duty chassis in 0.040 in aluminum (0.04 in / 1 mm in the ordering table) with a natural aluminum finish. Per the series photo notes, the protective covering on the aluminum makes a convenient layout surface.
The drawing specifies inner box dimensions of 340.87 mm [13.42 in] long, 124.97 mm [4.92 in] wide and 48.77 mm [1.92 in] high. Shipping weight is 0.57 lbs (0.26 kg).
The underside is open; add natural-finish bottom plate 1434-18 (0.040 in aluminum, punched with 4 holes of 3/16 in diameter) and plated cover screws 1421J6 (package of six 6-32 x 1/4 in self-tapping screws), both sold separately. The 1451 series steel chassis covers are not compatible with the 1444-18.
