The 1444-16CWW pairs the 10 in x 6 in x 2 in (254 mm x 152 mm x 51 mm) 1444-16 aluminum chassis with solid walnut side panels. It is intended for audio and tube amplifier builders, and anyone who wants a finished, furniture-style look on a metal electronics chassis.
The chassis is spot welded, heavy duty 0.040 in aluminum (0.04 in / 1 mm) in a natural aluminum finish. The walnut side panels are routed out to fit over the ends of the chassis, which is pre-punched for easy mounting. Each side attaches with four machine screws and lockwashers into metal inserts to avoid wood damage; screws should not be torqued past 4.43 lbf.in (50 cN.m).
The drawing notes that the chassis includes the wooden sides, adhesive rubber feet and the required hardware. Assembled, it measures 271.78 mm [10.70 in] long and 165.10 mm [6.50 in] wide, with walnut sides 63.50 mm [2.50 in] high. Inner box width is 151.38 mm [5.96 in] and inner box height is 48.77 mm [1.92 in]. The walnut inset reduces the usable surface of the chassis front, back and top by roughly 7/8 in (22 mm).
Bottom plate 1434-16 and plated cover screws 1421J6 (package of 6, 6-32 x 1/4 in self-tapping) are sold separately. Replacement clear self-adhesive rubber feet are 1421T6CL (package of 24). The 1451 series steel covers are not compatible.
The 1444-16CWW ships in shrink wrap at 0.84 lbs (0.38 kg) and is REACH and RoHS compliant.
