The 1444-15 is a 10 in x 6 in x 1 in (254 mm x 152 mm x 25 mm) aluminum chassis: a wide, shallow base for circuit boards, control panels and slim electronics where overall height has to stay low.
It is spot welded for heavy duty construction and made of 0.040 in aluminum (0.04 in / 1 mm in the ordering table) with a natural aluminum finish. The protective covering on the aluminum can be marked up as a layout guide, per the series photo notes.
Inner box dimensions from the drawing are 251.96 mm [9.92 in] long, 150.36 mm [5.92 in] wide and 23.37 mm [0.92 in] high, so components under the top panel must fit within about 0.92 in of clearance. Shipping weight is 0.41 lbs (0.19 kg).
The matching bottom plate is 1434-16, the same natural-finish 0.040 in aluminum plate used by the 2 in high 1444-16; it is punched with 4 holes of 3/16 in diameter. Plated cover screws 1421J6 (package of 6, 6-32 x 1/4 in self-tapping) fasten it. Both are sold separately, and the 1451 series steel chassis covers are not compatible.
The 1444-15 is REACH and RoHS compliant and ships in shrink wrap. Factory modifications (milling, drilling, printing) are available, as are STEP or IGES solid models.
