The 1438H is a 9.50 x 6.25 in Type 12 mild steel junction box from the Extra Deep (1438) side of the 1436/1438 Series, 4.75 in deep. It is designed for instrument enclosures, electrical junction boxes and terminal wiring enclosures that need a degree of protection from falling dirt, dust, oil and water.
Dimensions are 9.50 in H x 6.25 in W x 4.75 in D (241 x 159 x 121 mm). The 16 gauge steel body has smooth, continuously welded seams without knockouts, cutouts or holes. Welded mounting brackets bring the overall height to 10.50 in, with Ø0.25 in holes spaced 10.00 in vertically and 5.38 in horizontally. Overall depth including the cover is 4.91 in.
The 9.87 x 6.62 in lift-off cover is supported on internal hinges and secured with captive, plated steel screws fastening into threaded, sealed wells, compressing a permanently secured oil resistant gasket. The door opening is 9.00 in high by 5.75 in wide. A bonding stud on the cover and grounding stud on the enclosure are provided.
The 1438H is rated UL 508A Type 12 and 13 and CSA Type 12 and 13, and complies with NEMA Type 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP54. Cover and enclosure are phosphatized and finished in recoatable ANSI 61 gray powder coating. It ships in a box at 6.5 lbs (2.95 kg).
