Hammond 1421N100 100-Pack 10-32 Clip Nuts, Black Oxide Steel

The 1421N100 is a 100-piece package of 10-32 rack rail clip nuts finished in black oxide, supplied in a resealable plastic jar. Also known as speed nuts, Tinnerman nuts or U-nuts, these clips snap directly onto non-threaded rack rails to create a 10-32 threaded mounting point — a faster alternative to installing traditional cage nuts. The pack size suits IT and AV integrators, telecom installers, maintenance departments and OEM production lines.

Each clip nut is formed from heat-treated SAE 1050-1065 spring steel and austempered for consistent spring tension and long-term retention, with a hardness of HRC 38-42. The spring steel body grips rail material from 0.069 to 0.079 inches thick, making the clips durable and reusable across equipment moves and retrofits. Recommended torque is 31.4 inch-lbs +/- 20%. Maximum load rating will vary depending on rail mounting and cabinet load rating.

Because the clips install by hand without special tools, 1421N100 speeds up adding switches, patch panels, shelves and cable management to racks and cabinets with non-threaded round-hole or square-hole rails. The same clip nut is offered in a zinc-plated CR3 finish as 1421NP100 if a plated appearance is preferred, and combined clip nut plus rack screw packs are available in the CLPKIT Series.
