Hammond 119Y250 250W 70V Line Matching Transformer, 8/16 Ohm Input

The 119Y250 is the highest-power model in the 119 Series of audio sound distribution line matching transformers, rated at 250 watts. It matches an 8 or 16 Ω amplifier output to a 70 V line (70 V only) and is suitable for solid state amplifiers where isolated windings are not required, or for use with Hammond's "Classic" 1600 tube output transformers to provide a 70 V line output.

According to its drawing, frequency response is 50 Hz to 10 kHz (0/-1.0 dB, reference at 1 kHz) and distortion is less than 2% at 50 Hz. Dielectric strength is 1500 VRMS and the temperature range is -40 to 105°C. It can be reversed for operation at high power speaker locations.

Leads are 6" long minimum and colour-coded, with COM BLK, 8 Ω WHT and 70 V GRN plus a BRN lead. Typical DC resistance is 0.377 Ohm (Black-White), 0.537 Ohms (Black-Brown) and 0.600 Ohms (Black-Green). Inductance / impedance at 1.0 kHz, 1.0 V open circuit is 49.46 mH / 301.7 Ohm (Black-White), 88.57 mH / 568.9 Ohm (Black-Brown) and 110.64 mH / 681.8 Ohm (Black-Green), with 19.4 uH Black-Green leakage inductance.

The 119Y250 uses X mounting on 2.50 x 2.94 in centers with 0.20 x 0.38 in slots. Series table dimensions: A 3.13 in (80 mm), B 4.25 in (108 mm), C 3.81 in (97 mm), D 2.50 in (64 mm), E 2.94 in (75 mm). The series table lists 6.70 lbs and the shipping weight is 7.35 lbs (3.33 kg).
