The 118944 is a replacement interstage audio transformer for the RCA Radiola 111-A (III-A). It was developed in response to requests from Radiola III-A collectors, because the original transformers are usually found with open windings, a result of the fine wire and high turns used, combined with age. The design has been brought back and is again offered to collectors and restorers of antique radio equipment.
It is a universal replacement type: by connecting its 5 lugs correctly, it will replace any of the 3 audio transformers used in the set, whether the 1st audio driver, the second audio phase splitter stage or the output transformer. A pin-out and connection diagram is included.
- Primary: 4,000 turns of #41 wire (lugs 4 and 2)
- Secondary: 12,000 turns, centre tapped, #41 wire (lugs 5 and 1, lug 3 is the C.T. connection)
- Termination: solder lugs on a 1 3/4 in x 1 in terminal board with 4 connecting leads of 5 in
Overall dimensions are 1.88 in (48 mm) high, 1.69 in (43 mm) wide and 1.38 in (35 mm) deep, with a lamination core size of 0.62 in (16 mm) x 0.50 in (13 mm). The unit is listed at 0.44 lbs, with a shipping weight of 0.55 lbs (0.25 kg).
Mounting uses the existing case: the cases from the old transformer fit this new unit, and the included terminal board duplicates the original. The 118944 is REACH and RoHS compliant.
