The RP1200 is a water-tight polycarbonate enclosure from the RP Series, sized at 5.71 in (145 mm) long, 4.13 in (105 mm) wide and 1.77 in (45 mm) deep, with a opaque lid. It is the low-profile 45 mm-deep size on the 145 x 105 mm footprint, and is ideally suited for mounting printed circuit boards or components in equipment that has to keep out oil, dust and water.
The body is polycarbonate with a UL94 V-2 flame rating. Hammond's ordering table and drawing list this part as off-white polycarbonate, while the part listing records the color as light gray, so confirm the shade if appearance matters for your build. Its opaque lid includes a smooth recessed area for a membrane, label or silkscreen, giving a clean surface for front-panel graphics. The two-piece "tongue & groove" lid is gasketed and the enclosure is designed to meet IP 65. The rubber string gasket is included and must be field installed.
Inside, the drawing gives 136.50 mm [5.37 in] of length, 96.50 mm [3.80 in] of width and 39.50 mm [1.56 in] of height. Posts in both the box and the lid accept M3 self-tapping screws, and the maximum PC board size is 132 x 92 mm. The lid fastens with self-captivating M3.5 stainless steel machine screws threaded into corrosion-resistant bushings, which suits repeated assembly and disassembly; recommended torque is 43-50 ozf.in (30-35 cN.m).
