Hammond RP1185C 164x86x85mm Watertight ABS Enclosure, Clear Lid

The RP1185C is a water-tight ABS enclosure from the RP Series, sized at 6.46 in (164 mm) long, 3.39 in (86 mm) wide and 3.35 in (85 mm) deep, with a clear polycarbonate lid. It is the deepest option on the long, narrow 164 x 86 mm footprint, at 85 mm deep, and is ideally suited for mounting printed circuit boards or components in equipment that has to keep out oil, dust and water.

The body is general purpose ABS with a UL94 HB flame rating, in light gray. Its lid is clear polycarbonate, so indicators, displays or status LEDs mounted inside stay visible without cutting a window, and the lid still carries the smooth recessed area for a membrane, label or silkscreen. The two-piece "tongue & groove" lid is gasketed and the enclosure is designed to meet IP 65. The rubber string gasket is included and must be field installed.

Inside, the drawing gives 158.71 mm [6.25 in] of length, 78.71 mm [3.10 in] of width and 79.00 mm [3.11 in] of height. Posts in both the box and the lid accept M3 self-tapping screws, and the maximum PC board size is 157 x 77 mm. Optional inner panels are available in 3 mm black ABS (STC117) or 1 mm metal (STA117) for mounting components on a plate.

The lid fastens with self-captivating M3.5 stainless steel machine screws threaded into corrosion-resistant bushings, which suits repeated assembly and disassembly; recommended torque is 43-50 ozf.in (30-35 cN.m). Each RP1185C ships as an assembly of box, lid, string gasket, 4 PCB screws and 4 lid screws, packed in a bag at a shipping weight of 0.62 lbs (0.28 kg). It is RoHS and REACH compliant.
