Hammond RMCS9018BK1 1U Half-Width Aluminum Instrument Case, Solid Top

The RMCS9018BK1 is a 1U half-width rackmount / desktop instrument enclosure from the RMC Series with solid (unvented) top and bottom panels. At 8.50 in (216 mm) wide, 8.00 in (203 mm) deep and 1.73 in (44 mm) high, it suits OEM engineers, test-equipment builders and integrators who need a compact aluminum case for a bench or desktop instrument, with rack-mount brackets included for use when needed.

Construction uses type 5052 H32 aluminum for easy modification: 0.125 in (3.2 mm) side panels and rack-mount brackets, 0.064 in (1.6 mm) front and rear panels, and 0.062 in (1.6 mm) top and bottom panels. Assembly is all machine screw and PEM nut, so the case stands up to repeated assembly and disassembly, and any of the six panels comes off by removing only 4 screws. The enclosure is finished in a rugged, satin textured black powder coat.

This 1U enclosure offers 1.75 in (44 mm) of usable mounting height and 0.81 in (21 mm) of inside height clearance with the optional internal chassis panel (RMP908) installed. Inside, the drawing gives 39.67 mm [1.56 in] of inside height and 209.55 mm [8.25 in] of inside width, with an inside length of 198.89 mm [7.83 in]. Shipping weight is 4.08 lbs (1.85 kg).

The knockdown design ships unassembled for easy handling and shipping protection. The purchased assembly includes 2 front/rear panels, 2 top/bottom panels, 2 side panels, 2 mounting tabs, 4 inner brackets, 24 screws and 4 rubber feet; recommended cover screw torque is 8.9-9.4 lbf-in (100-110 cN-m). Panels are not grounded to the frame because of the powder coat, so the grounding method is determined by the user. The part is RoHS and REACH compliant.
