Hammond RM3U1918SBK 3U 19" Rack Mount Enclosure, 18" Deep, Solid

The Hammond RM3U1918SBK is a 3U solid rack-mount / desktop instrument enclosure from the RM Series, measuring 5.25 in (133 mm) high, 16.60 in (422 mm) wide and 18.00 in (457 mm) deep. It is built for OEM engineers, test and measurement designers and integrators who need a lightweight, all-aluminum case that can mount in a standard 19 in rack using the included pair of rack mounting ears, or sit on a desktop.

At 18.00 in deep this is the depth where the ordering table pairs the enclosure with an adjustable-depth rear bracket kit, RM3U18BRKT, for supporting the back of the case in a 4-post rack.

Construction uses extruded aluminum side panels and extruded aluminum front and rear panels, each 0.125" (3.2 mm) thick, with flat aluminum top and bottom panels 0.064" (1.6 mm) thick. The drawing specifies a Type 6063 extruded aluminum frame and .064" 5052-H32 aluminum panels. The enclosure is finished in rugged textured black powder coat and uses a knockdown design that ships unassembled for easy handling and shipping protection. Because of the powder coat, panels are not grounded to the frame; the grounding method is determined by the customer.

Per the RM3U1918SBK drawing, the assembly hardware comprises: 2 Mounting Brackets - .125" Aluminum; 16 Screws - Flat Head 4-40 x 3/8"; 8 Screws - Counter Sunk Head 6-32 x 3/8"; 4 Screws - Counter Sunk Head 10-32 x 3/8"; 16 Nuts - #4 Speed Nuts; Four Self Adhesive Rubber Feet - 1421T3. It accepts pull handle part number 1427P1BK, and the ordering table lists RM3U18BRKT as its adjustable-depth rear mounting bracket, sold in pairs.

The RM3U1918SBK is RoHS and REACH compliant, manufactured in North America, and ships in a box at 10.1 lbs (4.58 kg). Enclosures can be factory modified with milling, drilling or printing, and solid models are available in STEP or IGES for design work.
