Hammond RM3U0804VBK 3U Half-Width 8.3" x 4.25" Vented Aluminum Enclosure

The RM3U0804VBK is a 3U rack-mount and desktop instrument enclosure from the RM Series with a vented top and bottom. At 8.3 in wide it is a half-width chassis: it sits on a desk on its four self-adhesive rubber feet, and rack mounting flanges (RM3UMTGFL, with screws) are sold separately for builders who want to rack it later. Choose the RM3U0804SBK if you need the solid version of the same size.

Construction is all aluminum: extruded side panels and front/rear panels 0.125" (3.2 mm) thick, a Type 6063 extruded aluminum frame, and flat 0.064" (1.6 mm) top and bottom panels in 5052-H32 aluminum, finished in rugged textured black powder coat. The knockdown design ships unassembled for easy handling and shipping protection. Note that the panels are not grounded to the frame because of the powder coat; the grounding method is determined by the customer.

Overall dimensions are 5.25 in (133 mm) high, 8.30 in (211 mm) wide and 4.25 in (108 mm) deep (3U). The front and rear panels measure 204.47 mm [8.050 in] wide by 132.59 mm [5.220 in] high, a useful figure when laying out connectors, displays and switches. Vent holes are Ø4.32 mm [0.170 in], arranged in 3 rows & 22 columns. Shipping weight is 6.1 lbs (2.77 kg).

Each assembly includes interchangeable front/rear, top/bottom and side panels plus hardware: 8 screws - flat head 4-40 x 3/8", 8 screws - flat head 6-32 x 3/8", 8 nuts - #4 speed nuts, 4 self adhesive rubber feet. It accepts pull handle 1427P1BK. The enclosure is RoHS and REACH compliant and manufactured in North America; solid models are available in STEP or IGES.
