Hammond RM2U0808SBK 2U Half-Width 8.3" x 8" Solid Aluminum Enclosure

The RM2U0808SBK is a 2U rack-mount and desktop instrument enclosure from the RM Series with a solid top and bottom. At 8.3 in wide it is a half-width chassis: it sits on a desk on its four self-adhesive rubber feet, and rack mounting flanges (RM2UMTGFL, with screws) are sold separately for builders who want to rack it later. Choose the RM2U0808VBK if you need the vented version of the same size.

Construction is all aluminum: extruded side panels and front/rear panels 0.125" (3.2 mm) thick, a Type 6063 extruded aluminum frame, and flat 0.064" (1.6 mm) top and bottom panels in 5052-H32 aluminum, finished in rugged textured black powder coat. The knockdown design ships unassembled for easy handling and shipping protection. Note that the panels are not grounded to the frame because of the powder coat; the grounding method is determined by the customer.

Overall dimensions are 3.50 in (89 mm) high, 8.30 in (211 mm) wide and 8.00 in (203 mm) deep (2U). The front and rear panels measure 204.47 mm [8.050 in] wide by 88.13 mm [3.470 in] high, a useful figure when laying out connectors, displays and switches. Shipping weight is 4.5 lbs (2.04 kg).

Each assembly includes interchangeable front/rear, top/bottom and side panels plus hardware: 12 screws - flat head 4-40 x 3/8", 8 screws - flat head 6-32 x 3/8", 12 nuts - #4 speed nuts, 4 self adhesive rubber feet. It accepts pull handle 1427E1BK. The enclosure is RoHS and REACH compliant and manufactured in North America; solid models are available in STEP or IGES.
