Hammond RM1U1918VBK 1U 16.6 x 18 in Vented Aluminum Rack Enclosure

The RM1U1918VBK is a 1U rack-mount or desktop instrument enclosure from the RM Series, built from extruded aluminum with vented top and bottom panels. Its overall dimensions are 1.75 in (44 mm) high, 16.60 in (422 mm) wide and 18.00 in (457 mm) deep, and it is intended for electronics designers, OEM engineers and test and measurement builders who need a compact 1U chassis that mounts in a 19" rack or sits on a bench.

Construction uses a Type 6063 extruded aluminum frame, with extruded aluminum side, front and rear panels 0.125" (3.2 mm) thick and flat 5052-H32 aluminum top and bottom panels .064" (1.6 mm) thick. The enclosure is finished in rugged textured black powder coat. The vented top and bottom panels are perforated with 4.32 mm (0.170 in) holes over a 373.06 mm [14.688 in] x 304.56 mm [11.991 in] area, for applications that need ventilation through the case. The solid-panel version is RM1U1918SBK. Because of the powder coat, panels are not grounded to the frame and the grounding method is to be determined by the customer.

As a full-width version, the RM1U1918VBK includes one pair of 19" rack mounting ears; the drawing shows a 482.61 mm [19.000 in] overall width across the ears and a 415.30 mm [16.350 in] front panel. It accepts the 1427B2BK pull handle, and for 4-post racks the RM1U18BRKT adjustable-depth rear bracket kit (sold in pairs) adds up to 16.00 in (406 mm) of support depth. It can also be used without the brackets as a desktop case.

The knockdown design ships unassembled for easy handling and shipping protection. Per the drawing the kit includes 2 mounting brackets, .125" aluminum, 16 flat head 4-40 x 3/8" screws, 8 counter sunk head 6-32 x 3/8" screws, 4 counter sunk head 10-32 x 3/8" screws, 16 #4 speed nuts, four self adhesive rubber feet (1421T3). It ships in a box at 7.19 lbs (3.26 kg) and is RoHS and REACH compliant, and it is manufactured in North America.
