Hammond RL6215BK 125x80x35mm Black ABS Project Enclosure, IP54

The RL6215BK is a 125 x 80 mm ABS plastic project enclosure from the RL Series of shallow-lid boxes, designed to house P.C. boards for hand-held use or wall mount. It suits OEM engineers, electronics builders and integrators who need a black housing for a small circuit board assembly. It is the middle height of the three enclosures built on the 125 mm x 80 mm footprint (RL6205 at 25 mm, this 35 mm size, and RL6225 at 50 mm).

The enclosure is molded in black general purpose ABS plastic (listed as Trans. Black on the part page) with a light texture and uses two-part construction. Both the box and the shallow lid carry a smooth recessed area for a membrane, label or silkscreen, and P.C. board standoffs are molded into both halves, with bosses that accept M2.6 self-tapping screws.

Nominal size is 4.92 in x 3.15 in x 1.38 in (125 mm x 80 mm x 35 mm), with inside dimensions of 119.60 mm [4.71 in] long, 74.60 mm [2.94 in] wide and 28.90 mm [1.14 in] high. It accepts a maximum P.C. board of 118.84 mm x 73.84 mm. This is the version without wall mounting flanges; the flanged equivalent is RL6215-FBK. Shipping weight is 0.2 lbs (0.09 kg).

Each purchased assembly includes the box, lid, 4 PCB screws and 4 lid screws, and the recommended screw torque is (43-50) Ozf.in / (30-35) cN.m. The RL6215BK is designed to meet IP54, uses UL94 HB rated ABS, and is RoHS and REACH compliant. Some chemicals can damage or weaken the plastic, including acetone, ketones, thread-locking compounds, cutting or tapping fluid and strong solvents, so use only plastic-safe cleaners. The enclosure can also be factory modified (milling, drilling, printing), and solid models are available in .stp or .x_t. The light gray counterpart of this size is RL6215.
