Hammond RL6055 180x106x40mm Light Gray Deep Lid ABS Project Box

The RL6055 is a light gray deep-lid ABS project enclosure from the RL Series, designed to house PC boards for handheld use. At 180 x 106 x 40 mm in the series ordering table, it is a wider 106 mm body that takes much larger boards than the 64 mm-wide sizes. Electronics designers, OEM engineers and integrators use it for handheld instruments, remotes and keypad-driven devices.

It is molded in general purpose ABS plastic carrying a UL94 HB flammability rating. Construction is a two-part, snap action clam shell, and both halves include a smooth recessed area for membranes, keypads or labels. PC board standoffs are molded into both the top and bottom half, and the enclosure is designed to meet IP54.

The part page gives a nominal size of 7.01 in x 4.13 in x 1.57 in (178 mm x 105 mm x 40 mm), while the drawing shows 180.40 mm [7.10 in] x 106.00 mm [4.17 in] x 40.00 mm [1.57 in] overall, with inside dimensions of 171.81 mm [6.76 in] long, 97.41 mm [3.83 in] wide and 34.00 mm [1.34 in] high. Maximum PC board size is 170.98 x 96.58 mm, and shipping weight is 0.4 lbs (0.18 kg).

Each RL6055 includes the box, lid, four M3 lid screws and four short M3 PC board screws; all bosses accept M3 self-tapping screws and the recommended torque is (43-50) Ozf.in / (30-35) cN.m. For replacements order SC617-50 (M3 x 25 mm lid screws, 50 pkg) or SC622-50 (M3 x 6 mm PCB screws, 50 pkg). It is RoHS and REACH compliant; the black version is RL6055BK.

Hammond can factory modify these enclosures (milling, drilling, printing) and offers solid models in .stp or .x_t. Avoid acetone, thread-locking compounds, cutting fluid and strong solvents, which can damage or weaken ABS.
