Hammond PWDP13140 Alpha 87 Rev K C-Core Power Transformer, 1900 VAC

The PWDP13140 is the Alpha 87 power transformer, Rev K, carrying Alpha Power P/N TPX-X133. The manufacturer notes it is not the same as the Alpha 87a transformer, so owners should confirm their amplifier revision. It is intended for repair technicians and operators maintaining Alpha 87 linear amplifiers.

The primary is tapped 0-200-220-240 VAC and rated 50/60 Hz single phase. Secondaries are S1 0-1280-1900 VAC @ 1.5 A CCS, S2 7.8 VAC @ 4 A CCS, S3 14.45 VAC @ 3 A CCS and S4 52 VCT @ 3.5 A CCS. The drawing identifies the leads: #12 TEF black primary leads (1) and (2); #18 TEF black 0V (5), orange 1280V (6) and red 1900V (7); #16 TEF blue (8, 9) for 7.8V; yellow (10, 11) for 14.45V; and orange-grey-orange (12, 13, 14) for 52VCT.

It is wound on an A-0516 C-core with top and bottom coils, style 9, at an approximate weight of 33 lb (shipping weight 33 lbs / 14.97 kg). A lifting handle is supplied, and the bottom plate includes four zinc plated 1/4-20 self-clinch nuts. Drawing dimensions come from the Dahl specification and were verified on a physical sample; phantom lines show the extents of the mounting bracket.

The Dahl label shown on the drawing reads ALPHA TPX-X133, PWDP13140, date code and MADE IN CANADA. The part is REACH and RoHS compliant. As a style 9 C-core model, the PWDP13140 may need to be quoted by the manufacturer's office.
