Hammond PJU16148W 16x14x8 Lift-Off Window Cover Type 4X Box, Feet

The PJU16148W is a 16 x 14 x 8 in Type 4X polyester junction box with a lift-off screw cover and polycarbonate viewing window. It suits engineers and electricians building instrument enclosures, terminal wiring boxes, or electric, hydraulic and pneumatic control housings that need to be monitored without opening the cover, including locations that are hosed down, very wet, hot or highly corrosive.

Box and cover are compression molded fiberglass reinforced polyester in a light gray finish, with enhanced UV inhibitors for outdoor weathering. The drawing calls out clear polycarbonate for the cover and windows. The material is easily punched, cut or drilled for conduit entries and devices, and a captive, oil resistant closed cell neoprene gasket seals the cover.

Actual enclosure dimensions are 16.05 in H x 14.27 in W x 8.13 in D (408 x 362 x 207 mm). The cover is held by four #10-32 brass inserts and stainless steel captive cover screws with retaining O-rings. Four more brass inserts with plated carbon steel screws accept the optional 14R1513 inner panel, 14.75 x 12.88 in.

For wall mounting, four polycarbonate feet attach to brass inserts at the rear with stainless steel screws; the drawing shows 16.91 in vertical hole spacing and 0.31 in mounting holes. The enclosure is rated UL 508A and cUL Type 1, 2, 3, 4, 4X, 12 and 13, complies with IEC 60529 IP66, and operates from -40°C to 130°C.
