Hammond PJHMI86CCL 8x6 Clear Polycarbonate HMI Cover, Snap Latch

With a clear polycarbonate cover and a snap latch that includes a padlock feature, the PJHMI86CCL gives an 8x6 window onto instruments or electronics that need routine attention. The latch opens without tools for frequent access, and a padlock can be added when the device should stay closed.

The frame (WGF86) and clear cover are injected polycarbonate; the cover pivots on a 316 stainless steel hinge pin (70-HPIN8316) and seals on a formed-in-place (FIP) polyurethane gasket in a continuous channel. An HMI under center latch (70-HMISSLCH316) holds the cover shut, and the latch includes a padlock feature to prevent unintentional opening; the replacement snap latch is part number PCJLLRSH. The series offers the clear polycarbonate thermoplastic cover version as PJHMI86CCL; the matching opaque cover version is PJHMI86L. It is UV stabilized for outdoor use and rated for a service temperature of -31°F (-35°C) to 266°F (130°C).

The frame measures 7.93 in (201 mm) H x 6.15 in (156 mm) W x 2.27 in (58 mm) D, with a viewing area of 6.47 in (164 mm) H x 4.69 in (119 mm) W; the nominal size is 8 in x 6 in x 2 in (203 mm x 152 mm x 51 mm). Installation needs a Phillips screwdriver or similar tool: mark and cut a panel opening of up to 6.47 in H x 4.69 in W, drill 7/32 or #2 (.220 dia) holes, and mount the kit with 8 fasteners. The supplied hardware suits mounting surfaces from .059 in to .250 in thick (the series is designed for wall thicknesses from 16 gauge through 1/4 in), torqued to 15-20 in-lbs. An optional prop arm, PJHMIPROP86, is available separately.

The PJHMI86CCL is a listed UL component (UL File E487574) for use with enclosures rated Types 1, 3, 3R, 4, 4X, 12 or 13, and is CSA listed Type 1, 3, 3R, 4, 4X, 12 or 13. It is REACH and RoHS compliant and ships at 2 lbs (0.91 kg).
