Hammond PJHMI1614CCHTP 16x14 Clear HMI Hinged Cover, Tamperproof Screws

The PJHMI1614CCHTP is a clear polycarbonate HMI hinged cover kit with a tamperproof screw closure, part of the PJHMI Series. It mounts over an opening in an enclosure wall to protect instruments or electronics requiring routine attention or detail. Because the cover is clear polycarbonate thermoplastic, the display behind it stays visible while the cover is closed. Tamperproof screws guard against casual opening.

The frame measures 15.87 in (403 mm) high by 14.07 in (357 mm) wide by 2.20 in (56 mm) deep (nominal size 16 in x 14 in x 2 in (406 mm x 356 mm x 51 mm)), and the viewing area is 14.49 in (368 mm) by 12.71 in (323 mm). Maximum panel cutout is 14.49 x 12.71 in, and it will fit enclosure sizes 18x16 and larger. Shipping weight is 4.5 lbs (2.04 kg).

The box is injection polycarbonate and the cover is injection polycarbonate, hung on a 316 stainless steel hinge pin and sealed by a Formed-In-Place (FIP) polyurethane gasket in a continuous channel. The cover is secured by two #10-32 brass inserts with 316 stainless steel captive tamperproof cover screws and retaining O-rings. It is UV stabilized for outdoor use, with a service temperature of -31°F (-35°C) to 266°F (130°C).

To install, mark and drill the mounting holes at 7/32 or #2 (.220 dia) (hole pattern HMI164), cut the opening, clean the surface and gasket, and mount with the supplied hardware torqued to 15 - 20 in-lbs using a Phillips screwdriver or similar tool. The hardware suits surfaces .059" to .250" thick. One hardware kit is included (10 fasteners needed), each kit with ten 10-32 x 1 pan head screws, ten stainless steel washer rivets and ten 10-32 nylon-insert nuts.

The PJHMI1614CCHTP is a listed UL component (UL File E487574) for use with enclosures rated Types 1, 3, 3R, 4, 4X, 12 or 13, and is CSA listed Type 1, 3, 3R, 4, 4X, 12 or 13. It is RoHS and REACH compliant. Optional prop arm: PJHMIPROP1614; the opaque version of this kit is PJHMI1614HTP.
