Hammond N1WS864 8x6x4" Type 1 Surface Mount 3-Piece Enclosure

The N1WS864 is an 8 x 6 x 4 inch Type 1 surface-mount enclosure, the smallest, shallowest size in the three-piece N1W S wallmount series. It is built for indoor controls, instruments and components that do not need oil-tight or dust-tight protection, where wiring the base before closing up saves time.

It is a three-piece assembly made up of a base, a wrapper and a door, attached and secured with metal screws. The 14 gauge reverse formed base serves as the mounting surface, so no separate inner panel is needed, and it provides clearance for mounting hardware.

Nominal size of the N1WS864 is 8 x 6 x 4 inches (203 mm x 152 mm x 102 mm), using the 4-inch wrapper depth (the series also offers 6- and 8-inch wrappers). The part drawing shows a door opening of 7.66 x 5.44 inches, a door of 8.36 x 6.31 inches and an overall depth of 4.18 inches. Shipping weight is 5 lbs (2.27 kg).

The wrapper is formed from 16 gauge steel with no knock-outs in the sides, and the 16 gauge door is removable, mounted on slip hinges and fastened with a slotted quarter-turn latch. A bonding stud on the door and a grounding screw for the enclosure are provided. The base, wrapper and door are finished in ANSI 61 gray powder coating, and a Type 1 lock kit and padlock adaptor are available as accessories.

It is rated UL 50 Type 1 (UL File E65324) and CSA Type 1 (certificate LR21001) and complies with NEMA Type 1 and IEC 60529 IP20. It is RoHS and REACH compliant, and the N1WS series appears on the manufacturer's EU declaration of conformity to the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU.
