Hammond HWCHAS1310BK 13 x 10 in Walnut Chassis, Satin Black Top Panel

The Hammond HWCHAS1310BK is a 13 x 10 x 3 in real walnut chassis with a satin black powder-painted aluminum top panel, from the HWCHAS Series. It is built for tube and vintage-style audio builders and electronics designers who want a solid wood frame with a metal deck strong enough for heavy components.

The frame is solid walnut 0.778 in (19.8 mm) thick, with corners produced using wood bracing and dovetail construction. The top panel is aluminum for easy modification and, at 0.08 in (2 mm), is thick enough to support heavy transformers without bowing, with fully framed support from the walnut chassis. The aluminum panel is supplied with a protective covering that can double as a layout surface.

Overall size is 13 in x 10 in x 3 in (330 mm x 254 mm x 76 mm). The drawing gives an inside box length of 292.10 mm [11.50 in], inside box width of 215.90 mm [8.50 in] and inner box height of 69.85 mm [2.75 in]; the aluminum panel measures 298.45 mm x 222.25 mm [11.75 in x 8.75 in].

The HWCHAS1310BK includes the solid walnut frame, one aluminum panel, four large round rubber feet (0.75 in dia. x 0.56 in high) and the required hardware. Hardware inserts are pressed into the wood so screws do not damage it, and the screws should not be torqued past 4.43 lbf.in (50 cN.m). Feet hardware is long enough to allow the optional bottom panel: HW1310BKPL (satin black) or HW1310ALPL. Replacement 8-32 x 3/8 in self-tapping screws come in 25-packs, SC1441-25 (silver) and SC1441BK-25 (black).
